Libertarian Vice Presidential Candidate and former Governor of Massachusetts William Weld is a Jack-Ass because he compared Donald J. Trump to Adolf Hitler and he equated his policy on illegal immigrants to Kristallnacht - the night in 1938 when rampaging Nazis smashed all the windows of Jewish owned business. All of the broken glass looked like crystals in the street and hence the name - Crystal Night. Over 100 synagogues were burned and 7,000 Jewish owned businesses were destroyed and tens of thousands were rounded up and sent to concentration camps. It is estimated that 2,500 people were killed that night.
We know the rest. Hitler rose to power and started a war that killed 50 million people. Let me repeat that. HITLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATHS OF 50 MILLION PEOPLE AND THE HORRIFIC AND UNTOLD SUFFERING OF COUNTLESS OTHERS. So I would like ask Mr. Weld and others who compare the Donald to Adolf how does evicting ILLEGAL aliens and sending them back to their countries equate to sending people to be gassed to death or cooked in ovens? (And BTW...I seriously doubt he actual means it. My guess is he 'pivots' and says that if they are here to work we'll welcome them and he only wants to export the ones who are incarcerated or are leaches on the system.)
Here's the bottom line. IF YOU COMPARE TRUMP TO HITLER IT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND TOTAL LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY. Please be clear. This is not an endorsement of Trump. It isn't. But it really makes me angry when people like Weld use Hitler's name so freely and carelessly. Hitler was one of, if not the most evil man who has ever lived. To equate Trump or pretty much anyone else to him diminishes the horror and suffering that he caused.
I wanted to post a picture of the holocaust but to be honest they are too upsetting so instead I decided to post a picture of a camp that was liberated. My Grandfather was a member of the Military Police in Patton's Third Army in World War Two. I remember when I was a young boy he told me how when they went into the camps the first time they gave the starving prisoners chocolate. The soldiers carried chocolate as a food source because it didn't spoil and was full of calories. Unfortunately, a lot of these people couldn't tolerate the chocolate because they hadn't eaten in so long and it overwhelmed their digestive systems and it killed them. I can only assume that must have been a terrible and tortuous thing to have to live with.
